DIY bike repair stand

Doing work on your MB can be troublesome without the use of a stand.  For some reason bike repair stands can be expensive, so why not build your own from hardware store parts?  Geoldr from motorbicycling.com was able to build one with some pipe from Home Depot for $65, although I imagine you could achieve something functionally similar for cheaper using a combo of PVC and construction re-bar.
